Using hyaluronic acid fillers safely – from the choice of preparation through the anatomy of the vessels to injection technique and dealing with complications. MEDEMIE combines two online courses with the filler workshop in Düsseldorf: first the theory at your own pace, then practice on a model.
Hyaluronic acid is the most commonly used filler – and the only one that can be dissolved again with hyaluronidase. That makes it the right starting point, but not a simple treatment: anyone who injects must know where arteries run, in which layer the material should lie and what to do in the event of impaired blood flow.
That is why the path at MEDEMIE begins with theory. The online course Lips & perioral indications shows anatomy, preparations and techniques on models; the course The lower third of the face extends the range to the chin, jawline and marionette lines. In the hyaluronic acid course in Düsseldorf you then perform the injections yourself – in a small group and under supervision.
Those who would like to get to know botulinum toxin and fillers in one day will find both in the fundamentals course on botulinum toxin & hyaluronic acid.

The two online courses cost €149 each, as a one-off payment with permanent access. The one-day hands-on workshop “Hyaluronic acid basic course” in Düsseldorf most recently cost €1,100 including VAT (November 2025), the Hyaluronic acid & Sculptra masterclass €1,500 (June 2026). The fee for upcoming dates is stated in the respective course announcement.
The most serious complication of a filler treatment is vascular occlusion. It is rare but demands immediate action. The online course Complication management in aesthetic medicine teaches in 14 chapters how to recognise warning signs, dose hyaluronidase and document. In an emergency, the Complication Consult supports you; case discussions are also offered by the complication management course in Düsseldorf.
The training courses are aimed exclusively at licensed physicians. Who is actually permitted to administer fillers in Germany is explained in our guide to the legal situation.
In everyday usage, yes: hyaluronic acid is the most commonly used filler, which is why the two terms are used interchangeably. Other substances such as poly-L-lactic acid work differently and have a course of their own.
Not for the online course “Lips & perioral indications”. For the hands-on workshop, prior knowledge of aesthetic medicine is advantageous but not mandatory.
In the hands-on workshop, yes: after the demonstration by the course leaders, every participant has the opportunity to perform injections personally under supervision. The online courses show the techniques on models on video.
The online courses are currently not CME-certified; on completion you receive a MEDEMIE certificate of participation. Whether a workshop carries continuing education credits is stated in the respective course announcement.
Many physicians start with botulinum toxin because the number of indications is manageable, and then add fillers. Both paths are possible; you can find an overview of all courses under Aesthetics courses for doctors.
Upcoming dates appear automatically on this page and in the workshop overview. If none is announced, you can join the waiting list for the hyaluronic acid course in Düsseldorf.
