The lips are among the most sought-after and at the same time most demanding areas of filler treatment: little material, great effect, variable vessels. The online course “Lips & perioral indications” shows treatment with hyaluronic acid on four models – from analysis through injection to aftercare. In the hands-on workshop in Düsseldorf you then perform the injections yourself.
Lips and aesthetics: proportions and treatment wishes
Anatomy and ageing: morphology, vascular supply, perioral area
Indications: volume, contour, corners of the mouth, perioral wrinkles, philtrum and Cupid's bow
Hyaluronic acid fillers: material properties and choice of preparation
Facial and lip analysis, treatment plan on the model
Before treatment: consultation, patient information, contraindications
Four treatments on models: volume, contour, asymmetry, fine perioral lines, corners of the mouth
After treatment: aftercare and follow-up appointments
Management of adverse effects: from swelling and haematoma to vascular events and hyaluronidase
Legal aspects: documentation, fee schedule, liability
The lip has a rich blood supply, and the course of the labial arteries differs from person to person. Anyone who injects here must know the layers in which the material should lie, deliver small quantities in a controlled manner and immediately recognise the signs of impaired blood flow. That is why anatomy has a chapter of its own in the course, and the management of adverse effects extends to the use of hyaluronidase.
Equally important is the conversation beforehand: which shape suits the face, what can be achieved in one session, and where does the line to an unnatural result lie? Lip analysis and planning on the model are therefore an integral part of the course.
The topic can be explored in greater depth in the online course Complication management in aesthetic medicine; the anatomical foundations are laid by the facial anatomy basic course.
In the hyaluronic acid course in Düsseldorf, after the demonstration by the course leaders, you carry out treatments yourself under supervision – lips, corners of the mouth, nasolabial fold and cheeks. The workshop most recently cost €1,100 including VAT (November 2025). You can find an overview of all filler courses under Hyaluronic acid course for doctors.
Injection treatment with hyaluronic acid constitutes the practice of medicine (Heilkunde). Physicians may perform it, as may Heilpraktiker (non-medical practitioners); beauticians may not. Narrow limits apply to dentists. The details are set out in the guide to the legal situation. The training courses are aimed exclusively at licensed physicians.
Not for the online course: it starts with anatomy, materials science and analysis. For the hands-on workshop, prior knowledge of aesthetic medicine is advantageous but not mandatory.
The fundamentals, yes: anatomy, choice of preparation, analysis, planning and the technique on video on four models. You practise your own injections under supervision in the hands-on workshop.
Lip volume, lip contour, corners of the mouth, fine perioral lines and the shape and appearance of the philtrum and Cupid's bow – on models with different starting situations, including asymmetries.
A dedicated chapter covers the management of adverse effects – from swelling and haematoma to vascular events and the use of hyaluronidase.
The online course costs €149 including VAT, as a one-off payment with permanent access. There is a free trailer on the course page.
The online courses are currently not CME-certified; on completion you receive a MEDEMIE certificate of participation. Whether a workshop carries continuing education credits is stated in the respective course announcement.
