Using botulinum toxin safely – from anatomy through dosage and injection points to dealing with complications. MEDEMIE combines two online courses with the hands-on workshop in Düsseldorf: first the theory at your own pace, then practice on a model.
Anyone starting with botulinum toxin needs two things: a solid foundation of anatomy, mechanism of action and dosage – and the experience of handling the needle themselves. The two cannot be learned in a single step. That is why MEDEMIE deliberately separates theory and practice.
In the online basic course you work through the fundamentals in ten chapters, whenever and wherever you like. The advanced course goes deeper into techniques and complex indications. In the hands-on workshop in Düsseldorf you put what you have learned into practice on a model under supervision: from the consultation through treatment planning to the injection.
Anyone who has never injected before starts with three indications of the upper third of the face: glabellar lines, lateral canthal lines and forehead lines. This is exactly what the online basic course and the hands-on workshop are designed for. You do not need any prior knowledge of aesthetic medicine.
This sequence has proved its worth: first the theory in the online course, then a hands-on day with treatment on a model, and after that your first treatments of your own with precisely these three indications. The middle and lower thirds of the face, platysma and hyperhidrosis follow later in the advanced course. Those who would like to get to know both procedures in one day will find them in the fundamentals course on botulinum toxin & hyaluronic acid.

What the price of an injection course depends on and what costs arise in addition to the course fee is explained in the guide What does a Botox course for doctors cost?.
Yes. The online basic course and the hands-on workshop in Düsseldorf are intended for getting started and do not require any prior knowledge of aesthetic medicine. They cover glabellar lines, lateral canthal lines and forehead lines.
In substance, none: each refers to continuing medical education on treatment with botulinum toxin. There is no state-regulated training or additional qualification (Zusatzbezeichnung) for this; what matters is the content and the proportion of practical work. The checklist for injection courses shows what to look for.
The training courses are aimed exclusively at licensed physicians. In the workshop you treat a model under medical supervision. Who is actually permitted to administer botulinum toxin is explained in our guide to the legal situation.
Yes. Legally, the licence to practise medicine is sufficient; specialist training is not required. What is owed, however, is treatment in accordance with the specialist standard of care – that is what structured continuing education is for. More on this in the guide Learning aesthetic medicine.
The theory, yes; injecting itself only in practice. What the two online courses deliver is set out under Botox course online.
Not for the basic course. It conveys the basic knowledge for the safe use of botulinum toxin type A – using glabellar lines, lateral canthal lines and forehead lines as examples.
“Botox” is the trade name of one particular product and is used colloquially for botulinum toxin type A. Our training courses are product-neutral and cover the active substance and the various products.
The two online courses on botulinum toxin are currently not CME-certified; on completion you receive a MEDEMIE certificate of participation. Whether a workshop date carries CME credits is stated in the respective course announcement.
The online courses are a one-off payment with permanent access via your MEDEMIE account.
No date is currently announced. Via the waiting list you will be among the first to learn when things continue; all current dates are listed in the workshop overview.
